Itinerary

Day 1

10:00 a.m.             :        Arrival to Khasab port

10:15 a.m.             :        Depart from Khasab port to towards Kumzar village. On the way fruits, cold drinks, tea, coffee and snacks would be served.

12:15 p.m.             :        Dhow would be stopping at Kumzar village to see this traditional fishing village. Kumzar, a village located in the northern most province of Oman. It is the second most northerly inhabited part of the country, located on the Strait of Hormuz. The village is isolated and only accessible by speedboat. Kumzar has been inhabited for approximately 500 years. The inhabitants speak a separate language Kumzari. Fishing is the main occupation of this people. We would visit the village and see the traditional life of this people. We would explore the village on foot with our local Omani guide.

2:00 p.m.               :        Return back to the dhow and lunch would be served on the dhow and dhow would be moving toward Gubb fjord.

3:30 p.m.               :        Dhow would be arriving at Gubb fjord. Fishing, swimming and kayaking could be done here..

6:00 p.m.              :        Dinner would be served on board and overnight sleeping on the dhow. For overnight sleeping mattress, sleeping bags and pillows would be provided on the dhow. Overnight dhow would be anchored at Gubb fjord.

Day 2:

7:00 a.m.                        : Breakfast would be served board.

7:30 a.m.                        : Dhow starts moving from Gubb fjord towards Khorshem.

9:30 a.m.                        : Khor Shem is a sheltered 17km long fjord. The water is crystal clear and calm, very inviting for snorkeling and swimming. The mountains rise out of the sea and reflect back on the water. Humpack dolphins and Bolttle nose dolphins would be seen playing along the dhow. Dhow would be passing by Nadifi, Qanaha, Maqlab. There is no land access so most of the villagers own small speedboats. The children travel by boat to school, stay over in Khasab from Sunday to Thursday.You will see here that there are water tanks near the beach, the Oman Government provides fresh water, free of charge on a regular basis.

11:00 a.m.                       : Telegraph Island: (Jazirat al Maqlab) the most famous landmark in this area. Here the British laid the first telegraph cable in 1864, it ran from India to Basra, Iraq and the island was manned for some 10 years. Snorkeling here is a treat, don your masks and enjoy the clear,calm waters. Watch out for butterfly fish, groupers, and the coral growth is among the best in this fjord.The dhow is anchored at Telegraph Island for snorkeling and Kayaking.

12:30 p.m.                      : Lunch would be served on board

 

2:00 pm                         Seebi Island: This village is located at the end of the fjord and has around 60 inhabitants, very secluded. This area has many species of seabirds nesting in the cliffs. On the island take a plunge into the crystal clear water. The dhow is anchored at Seebi Island around for Snorkeling and kayaking

 

6:00 p.m.                        Dinner would be served on board and overnight dhow anchored inside the fjords of Musandam. Sleeping on the dhow.

End of day 2

Day 3:

7:00 a.m.                        :Breakfast on board and moving toward Khasab port.

8:00 a.m.                        : Return back to the Khasab port.

➤ Khasab Musandam 2-Day Overnight Dhow Cruise Overview : Spend an overnight sleeping on a dhow with Dolphin Khasab Tours


Timings: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m (Third day)


We depart by 10:00 a.m. for a two-day overnight cruise on our traditional dhow visiting the fjords of Musandam and the remote village of Kumzar opposite to Strait of Kumzar. This trip is a complete package to experience the flora and fauna of this beautiful peninsula. On the first day, dhow would goes to Kumzar village, the northernmost tip of this peninsula. We would visit the village of Kumzar to see the culture and daily life of the people living in this village. Dhow then returns toward Khor Ghubb, here you do some fishing and kayaking. Overnight the dhow would be anchored in Khor Gubb. On the second day, dhow would go towards Khor Shem, the longest sheltered fjord in Musandam. Here you would see the playful dolphins chasing the dhow. Dhow passes by fisherman villages and stops at Telegraph Island and Seebi Island for swimming, kayaking and fishing. By evening we would take you see the view of two seas, by climbing stair near Seebi Island. This would be an unforgettable experience; one side is the sea of Oman and Other side Arabian Gulf. Overnight dhow would be anchored in the fjord between Telegraph Island and Seebi Island. On the third day, dhow would return back to the port by 8:00 a.m. For overnight sleeping mattress, sleeping bags, pillows, sheet cover would be provided.
